The reason behind this dropping decision of Ubuntu MATE is as per some statistics less then 10% users are using 32 BIT installation image of Ubuntu MATE. Hence from Ubuntu MATE 18.10 release the developer’s will only concentrate on 64 Bit image and instead of working on 32 Bit image support they will put their efforts to support ARM devices like Raspberry Pi.
As per a research 92% of peoples likes 64 Bit installation image instead of 32 Bit. 3rd party application’s like Google Chrome, Nvidia. Mozilla Firefox also dropped 32 Bit package release so many years before.
But there is a good news for 32 Bit (i386) users. As per announcement those who are currently using 32 Bit installation image will get official updates and support for next 3 years i.e. till 2021 and Ubuntu MATE also offer 32 Bit packages from their repositories for some time.
