UBUNTU 18.10 “COSMIC CUTTLEFISH” MAY RELEASE BY END OF THIS YEAR WITH NEW UPDATES AND FEATURES
Introduction
Ubuntu developers has been started working on development of Ubuntu 18.10 after a successful release of Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver. The code name for this Ubuntu version has been announced by Mark Shuttleworth (CEO of Canonical) i.e. “Cosmic Cuttlefish” and they have already allowed to download the first Daily Build ISOs. Previously they announced the code as “Cosmic Canimal” but it was not confirmed and as expected the name changed to “Cosmic Cuttlefish”. The name Cuttlefish has been taken from a Marine Fish. Ubuntu officially didn’t released the features and updates of Ubuntu 18.10 but we can predict some updates as per latest application releases :
Linus Torvalds has been already released the latest Kernel version 5.0. The latest GNOME version i.e. GNOME 3.30 is releasing on September 5, OpenJDK 11 is the default JDK/JRE, The default system compiler would be GCC 8. As usual all Ubuntu release comes with new icons, wallpapers and themes. Lubuntu making LXQt as it’s default desktop environment. Zstd will be the default file compression tool instead of Gzip. As per official announcement the developer team is working hard to improve the security part of Ubuntu 18.10.
So all above mentioned updates and applications may be apply to upcoming Ubuntu latest release.

Most probably the Ubuntu 18.10 should be released this year by October 2018 and including Ubuntu all other official flavors i.e. Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Kubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio…etc are droping 32 Bit of ISO installation image and focusing on 64 Bit image. Ubuntu 18.10 will get official update and support for 9 months. Ubuntu is trying to do some experiments on this latest release and they are not releasing the Alpha and BETA version of Ubuntu 18.10.
As I said now you can taste this Ubuntu flavor by downloading it’s First build ISO image Here. But be mind that it may have bugs hence use it for testing purpose only and don’t use it for production use.
