Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver Beta 1 has been released on 8th March 2018 with new features, updates and fixes. here in this article we are going to discuss on this in brief. The noticeable changes included in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Beta 1 are listed below :
- Linux Kernel 4.15
- Minimal Installation
- The default display server in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is Xorg. In Ubuntu 17.10 (Last released version) the default display server was Wayland.
- Nice color emojis.
- Latest GTK Theme
- Suru as default Icon theme
Ubuntu has released it’s first beta version of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver just to get feedback about any bugs and errors of this operating system which will helps the developers to get it fixed on it’s final release. hence as it is for testing purpose only obviously you can’t use the Beta version for regular use but just install it to get information about this released version and help developers by reporting it’s bugs. The Second and Final Beta version has been scheduled to release on 5th April 2018.

As per official announcement Ubuntu also selected it’s other flavors to participate in this Beta 1 release i.e.
Kubuntu : Kubuntu 18.04 LTS beta 1 released with new version of KDE i.e. Plasma 5.12 LTS, KDE application version 17.12.2, Dragonplayer is the default media player instead of VLC, Updated version of Ktorrent, Telepathy messenger client removed but it is available in repository hence you can install if you need.
Ubuntu Budgie : UB released with Nautilus 3.26, Budgie version 10.4, GNOME 3.28, Best Wallpapers, More improvements on Keyboard shortcuts, Much more improvements in Virtual Machines i.e. QEMU, The default theme is GTK+ called as Pocillo, Clock on Desktop, Create short notes easily and quickly, Play MP3 out of the box.
Ubuntu Kylin : This Ubuntu flavor is for Chinese users.
Ubuntu MATE : The noticeable changes are MATE desktop version 1.20, Improved Fonts & Emojis, Supports Minimal Installation.
Xubuntu : Xubuntu released with noticeable features i.e. Updated version of Greybird GTK theme i.e version 3.22.6, Latest version of Thunderbird, Mozilla Firefox Quantum, XFCE version 4.12, Libreoffice 6.0, PulseAudio Bluetooth module, Numlock has been included in Startup. The best advantage of this Ubuntu flavor is it can work fine in older hardware devices.
