HOW TO INSTALL MIDNIGHT COMMANDER LINUX FILE MANAGER (MC FILE MANAGER) IN UBUNTU 16.04
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Midnight commander Linux file manager (mc file manager) in Ubuntu 16.04. Midnight commander is a open source file manager for Linux. it’s also referred as mc file manager. It’s an nice light weight file manager application as compared to others as it’s text based application. It’s completely free and released under GNU GPL license. You can customize the source code of this application by downloading it from Github.

Follow the below steps to install midnight commander Linux file manager (mc file manager) in Ubuntu 16.04
Before start the installation of Midnight commander Linux file manager we have install the PPA repository for that as it’s not a part of default repository of Ubuntu 16.04. So use the below command to install the same.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/unstable # Install PPA Repository
[sudo] password for elinuxbook:
This PPA currently holds unreleased / git builds for different applications like Turpial, mc, Audacious.

After installing the PPA repository let’s update the packages & repositories of Ubuntu 16.04 using below command to take effect.

After updating the packages & repositories now we are ready to install mc file manager package. So let’s go ahead and install the same using below command.

Now to open the application just type the command mc on shell prompt. Refer the command below.

To uninstall the Midnight commander Linux file manager application use the below command.
