HOW TO INSTALL LINUX PINTA IMAGE EDITOR IN UBUNTU 16.04
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Linux Pinta image editor in Ubuntu 16.04. Pinta is a free and open source GNOME based painting application can be used to edit images and for painting purpose. Pinta was developed by Jonathan Pobst on year 2010 using C# (C Sharp) programming language and released under MIT X11 License. It’s an similar application like MS Paint in windows but Linux Pinta image editor is more advance application then Microsoft Paint with nice features. It’s an cross platform application available for all major Operating Systems like Linux, FreeBSD, Microsoft Windows, MacOS.
Pinta image editor is very easy to use and user friendly application and easily understandable features. This application is available in almost all languages. Developers are still working on this to make the application more better and usable. It cannot be useful for advance paint or image editing tasks but for normal or basic image editing purpose it’s an nice application and an nice alternative to Microsoft Paint. The installation steps of Linux Pinta image editor is quiet simple. Here we are going to install latest pinta version 1.6-2 which was released on 1st March 2015 in Ubuntu 16.04. Follow the below steps to install Linux Pinta Image Editor in Ubuntu 16.04
Before we start the installation of Linux Pinta image editor we have to install it’s official version of PPA repository. We can do so using below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pinta-maintainers/pinta-stable # Install PPA Repository

After installing the PPA repository just update the packages and repositories of Ubuntu 16.04 using below command.

Now we are ready to install Linux Pinta image editor package. You can use the below command to install the same.

So we have successfully installed the Pinta Image editor. To confirm the same you can use the below command.

To open the application just type the command pinta on the shell prompt. Refer the command below.

You can also open the Linux Pinta image editor package graphically using Search your computer Box. Refer the snapshot below.
To uninstall the package you can use the below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo dpkg -r pinta # Uninstall the Package
