HOW TO INSTALL FOTOXX IN UBUNTU 16.04 – A UBUNTU IMAGE EDITOR APPLICATION
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Fotoxx image editor in Ubuntu 16.04. Fotoxx is a open source Ubuntu image editor application used to edit images, photos, snapshots. It supports almost all image formats i.e. PNG, JPEG, TIF, GIF and so on. It’s an nice application for image editing purpose comes with rich features like Crop the images, sharpen, can edit and apply effects on raw photos, resizing of the images, can rotate angle, can apply different effects like blur effect, black and white effect, old photo effect, Brightness & Darkness effect and so on. In short it’s an nice application for normal photo editing purpose but for professional use I would not recommend you to use fotoxx Ubuntu image editor.
Fotoxx is very much easy and user friendly application to use due to it’s simple interface and supports almost all languages like English, Italian, German, Catalan, French…etc..Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor is only available for Linux and Unix related operating systems. It’s completely free for use and released under GNUv3 license.
Follow the below steps to install Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor in Ubuntu 16.04
The installation steps of Fotoxx image editot is quiet simple. There are two ways by which we can install fotoxx i.e. by using .deb package or direct from Ubuntu default package repository. Here I am going to install via default Ubuntu repository.
Before we start the installation let’s update the packages and repositories of Ubuntu 16.04 using below command.

To install fotoxx we don’t need to install any 3rd Party PPA repository as Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor is a part of default repository of Ubuntu 16.04. So to install the fotoxx package use the below command.

As you can see above we have successfully installed the Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor package. To confirm the same refer the below command.

To open the Fotoxx application just type the command fotoxx on shell prompt. Refer the sample output below.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ fotoxx # Open the Fotoxx Ubuntu Image Editor
After open the Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor application it will ask to scan your computer for all available images. So just click on Proceed button to continue.
As you can see below scanning completed. There no images available on my computer.

You can also open the Fotoxx Ubuntu image editor application graphically using Search your comuter box. Refer the snapshot below.
To uninstall the package use the below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo dpkg -r fotoxx # Uninstall the Fotoxx application
