HOW TO INSTALL EVINCE LINUX PDF VIEWER IN UBUNTU 16.04 – A DOCUMENT VIEWER FOR LINUX
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Evince Linux PDF viewer in Ubuntu 16.04. Evince is open source application designed for multiple format document viewer. It’s an nice light weight application supports documents formats like PDF, tiff, Postscript, XPS and so on. This application was specially designed for GNOME based desktop environment. Like any other document viewer evince comes with some nice features like search for phrase and it will highlight and show number of result found, print the opened document, able to open encrypted PDF documents and so on.
Evince linux pdf viewer was developed by The Evince team and released under GNU license. Evince document viewer is a cross platform application available for operating system’s like Linux, Unix, Microsoft Windows.
Follow the below steps to install Evince Linux PDF viewer in Ubuntu 16.04 – A Document Viewer for Linux
Before start the installation of Evince linux pdf viewer let’s update the packages and repositories of Ubuntu 16.04 using below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get update # Update Packages & Repositories

Now let’s go ahead and install Evince document viewer using below command.

Now to open the Evince document viewer just type the command evince on shell prompt. Refer the command below.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ evince # Open the Evince Linux PDF Viewer application

To uninstall the application you can use the below command.
