HOW TO INSTALL DARKTABLE FREE WORKFLOW SOFTWARE IN UBUNTU 16.04 – A FREE RAW PHOTO EDITOR
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Darktable free workflow software (free raw photo editor) in Ubuntu 16.04. Darktable is a open source workflow photo editing application. Now you might be thinking that what is workflow. Workflow is nothing but a process by which we take Raw photo’s and place it sequencely and edit the photos, applying effects and prepare a album such way that one can appriciate the work. That’s why Darktable free workflow software is also known as free raw photo editor. Darktable is a powerful workflow application useable for Professional photo editor’s and it’s available with nice features for completely free. Darktable supports almost all image formats like JPEG, TIFF, PNG, GIF…etc…
Darktable free raw photo editor was originally developed by Johannes Hanika using C Programming Language on year 2009 and released under GNUv3 License. It’s an cross platform application available for all major operating system’s like Linux, Unix, Microsoft Windows, MacOS, FreeBSD, Solaris. The main advantage of Darktable free workflow software is it’s supports almost all languages.
Follow the below steps to install Darktable free workflow software in Ubuntu 16.04 – A free raw photo editor
Before we start the installation of Darktable free raw photo editor we have to install required official PPA repository for that. So to install same you can refer the below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release # Install PPA Repository
"Fairly Stable" releases for Darktable
Do not install a more recent version of Lensfun using another PPA as it will likely cause issues due the API changes. The lensfun package for Xenial on this PPA already has new lenses patched in.
Xenial (16.04 LTS) has some extra library updates available, as some relevant libraries shipped by Canonical for Xenial are fairly dated.
Trusty (14.04 LTS) has some extra library updates available, as the relevant libraries shipped by Canonical for Trusty are fairly dated. These extras will however no longer be updated, they will remain as-is.
Trusty will no longer be receiving updates after 2.0.7.
Precise will no longer be receiving updates after 1.4.2.
New Ubuntu versions will be supported within a week or two after their release. Please DO NOT contact me about that. Be patient.
Please do NOT contact me about providing updates for anything. I will update things when I see fit to do so. I do NOT do requests!
DO NOT INSTALL THESE BINARY PACKAGES IN DEBIAN.

You can also open the Darktable free raw photo editor graphically using Search your computer box. Refer the snapshot below.
To uninstall the application you can use the below command.
