GIGOLO – A BEST APPLICATION FOR LINUX TO MANAGE REMOTE FILE SYSTEM
Introduction
In this article we are going to learn How to install Gigolo remote file system manager in Ubuntu 16.04. Gigolo is a open source GUI (Graphical User Interface) application for Linux used to browse remote shares or remote file system easily. It uses GVfs or GIO to access and manage remote file system. Gigolo is a alternative application of Konqueror, GNOME Nautilus. It’s an user friendly application and any one can use this application to connect and access remote shares. You just have to select the Service type eg : Windows Share, SSH, FTP then enter your Username, Password and Port number to access the remote file system.

Before start the installation of Gigolo remote file system manager application let’s update packages & repositories of Ubuntu 16.04 using below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get update # Update Packages & Repositories

After updating the packages & repositories now we are ready to install the Gigolo package. To install this app we don’t have to install any 3rd party PPA repository as it’s a part of default repository of Ubuntu 16.04. So let’s go ahead and install the same using below command.
elinuxbook@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install gigolo # Install the Package

As you can see above we have successfully installed the Gigolo remote file system manager package. Now to confirm the same use the below command.

Now to open the application just type the command gigolo on shell prompt. Refer the command below.

To uninstall the application use the below command.
